Customer Values

My 8-year-old son is constantly ranking things; I mean all of the time.  Just this morning on the way to school, he said “Do you know who my top 3 friends are now Mom?”  Then he proceeded to tell me the three friends’ names and they were different from about a week ago when we had this same conversation.  I asked him why the top 3 had changed and he told me his reasoning why those 3 particular kids had moved up in the ranks.  He is in third grade so I have a lot of these conversations in my future.  We’ve also had similar conversations about songs, music artists, Hot Wheels cars, and movies.  The list could go on and on.  What I have noticed is that every time he ranks something, he always has a reason behind it, performance, personality, a good tune, and sometimes even value.

He’s always really excited when he finds that one Hot Wheels car that he’s been looking for and it’s on sale!  Then when he gets it home and it doesn’t end up winning the championship in the racing competition he’s created, he questions whether he should have gotten it in the first place because maybe since it was so cheap, it wasn’t as fast as some other cars he had looked at but didn’t buy because he didn’t want to spend that much.  He likes to spend his money, but he doesn’t like to SPEND his money.  He always wants to buy things but he is very frugal on what he actually purchases with his money.  I have watched him go from a $10 toy to a $.94 toy in just minutes because he just can’t bear to part with his money.  Sometimes he is happy with the $.94 toy and sometimes he suffers from buyer’s remorse.  It’s really hard being 8 years old. 🙂

decisions

Buying insurance can be just as difficult of a decision.  There are so many companies out there and how do you know which one you should choose?  There are so many factors that can go into the decision and you want to make sure you make the right choice.  When you are buying insurance, you often have to look at the value of what you are trying to insure.  Your house has to have a value attached to it so your premium can be calculated.  You have to think about the value of your personal belongings to decide if you have enough coverage if something like a fire or tornado occurred.  When you are looking at limits for your auto insurance, you have to think about the value of vehicles today and whether your limits are high enough to cover another person’s vehicle if you were in an accident.  Of course with higher values, you will often have higher premiums.

While bigger companies may be able to offer lower premiums, will that low price last or will it increase next year and will you be able to talk to a real person if you have a question about why it went up?  When you have a claim, will you be able to talk to someone you know about what the next step will be or will you have to rely on someone you’ve never met and considers you to be a number?  While smaller companies may cost a little bit more, the personal service along with the ability to work with someone local increases the peace of mind value of that policy.  We work with a lot of numbers and values every day at Adair County Insurance Agency.  Rates, premiums, yields, limits, cost estimations, expenses, payments, and the list goes on and on.  The most important value that we work with each day is our customers.  We value you as a person and want to help you get the best coverage you can for the best price we can offer.  We value your peace of mind and want to offer that friendly voice when you call in to ask questions.  We value your loyalty and appreciate your business.
